I had been involved with ATAFC for over four years. I covered a variety of different roles, predominantly running their social media pages aswell as creating and maintaining their website.
I also created teamsheets for their home games and was announcing line-ups, goals and subs over the PA system on various occasions.
I created alot of content for the 2020 FAI Cup semi-final program against Dundalk and designed the Pride of the Midlands sign over the tunnel.
I took over the social media pages in July 2020 and began generating content.
I learnt alot about how to operate a professional football club’s social channels and introduce a consistent tone of voice, adding in customised text font’s for the headings and creating the #ATAFC hashtag at the bottom of the captions.
Through new contacts I made in other clubs, I was able to get Athlone’s Instagram, Facebook and Twiiter/X pages fully verified with the blue tick. Something they were unable to get before.
The Instagram page had roughly 600 followers in July 2020 and when I left my position at the end of 2022, it had over 6,000. A tenfold increase during that time. This was achieved through consistent content being shared from delvering club updates throughout the week to match graphics on weekends.
After getting more familiar with Photoshop over these years, I developed a professional look template package during my third season which received alot of positive feedback, using fully custom assets.
After developing a brand new website for the club during my third year in college, I became the club’s website manager.
It became a new role with new reponsibilities. This consisted of sharing club statements, general info, maintaining the fixtures and results pages of the senior men’s women’s and academy teams and creating useful information pages such as the club’s history and honours pages.
